This is quite extraordinary research and I hope Walli's findings get the recognition they deserve. From reading the extracts, it certainly occurred to me that this was a plausible explanation for the massively strong defences of an island - Gozo - that was not much more than 60 sq kms and today has a population of barely more than 30,000. The construction of the massive Bronze Age Citadel at the capital, Victoria, was not so much to protect the citizens of the island of Gozo but was possibly more strategic - to protect their GPS system and thus their control over the sea lanes of that part of the Mediterranean.
