Re: Extreme Archaeology hits Channel 4 by Anonymous on Tuesday, 27 July 2004

I have to say that having watched extreme archaeology I am relieved that I can finally see some people planning what they are digging. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone with a planning frame or a sheet of perma-trace on Time Team.

I know that they are a little over bearing with the "look how dangerous this is" but that is to make this show watchable by all the poor saps that don't know anything about archaeology. I feel that it is an interesting show and people should note that it is only there to record the past that is disappearing, it is not there to fully excavate the area, and unlike time team they are aware that they only have three days. I was however delighted when they did actually spend more than three days on one site.

They are thorough archaeologists, they dig, they plan, and they save history from disappearing down a cliff. Give them a chance to spread the archaeology bug!
