We could say that all standing stones, no matter how they are configured, have been made human-like by being set upright. No doubt there are multiple explanations - sometimes the profile of a stone looks like a face. Perhaps they were all intended as portraits and dedicated to individuals - who may have sponsored their placement. Althougth we identify the sun and moon as being male and female, respectively, we can't assume that the ancients did too. Tibetans still perform sky burials, and there the agents are vultures. It's not a passive process, however, and the bodies are disarticulated and processed for the birds, which are given the crushed bones and gristle first, the viscera second, and the muscular flesh last of all.
