The summer solstice was to me nothing special untill the flint sundials were discovered at mesolithic sites in S/W Leicestershire in 2000. The following year I notified the B.B.C. T/V east midlands at Nottingham if they would like to film them working away on the summer solstice 2001after 9,000 years, after making sure that the sun was going to shine they sent over to Burbage their team and the event was sent out live from my back yard, a nerve wracking experience. One of them told me "If something more "newsworthy" came up such has a cat up a tree requiring a fire brigade rescue, they would have to leave my event and cover that!.
