How would we recognise Neolithic and Bronze Age word origins? Indo-european roots? In my East Anglian neck of the woods, very many place names are Saxon personal names and I acknowledge that this will not be the case the further west you go. I still believe it is more likely that Tothills and Toothills etc are look out hills rather than god/goddess hills, but I respectyour arguement even if I remain unconvinced.
