great. a pile of axe-heads. and no way of knowing if they were deposited systematically or ritually, with any organic remains, and with all non-metallic archaeology destroyed forever.
surely the reportable-finds laws (and even treasure-trove) need to pay a financial incentive to metal-detectorists if they call in professionals BEFORE ripping out all the 'treasure'.
