Re: Megalithic Measures and Rhythms by Anonymous on Tuesday, 29 January 2008

Proof of argument

I believe that Megalithic meaure is based on the French Aune of 10/7 MY. The Aune has a square root relationship with Sumerian. At the other end, the Roman Foot has a relationship with Egyptian. If the two ends are tied together into a loop then the Aune comes out as 4 Roman feet.

Egyptian Remen = 5/4 Roman feet

Egyptian Royal Cubit = Remen x SQR (2) ( Square root of 2)

Sumerian Cubit = 24/25 Royal cubits

10 royal cubits = English Pole

French Pole = English Pole x SQR (2)

Aune = French Pole/6

Therefore

Aune = Roman Foot x 5/4 x SQR(2) x 24/25 x 10 x SQR(2)/6
= 4 Roman feet

These relationships come from Historical Metrology by A.E.Berriman.

It seems likely that the Aune is the older measure of Western Europe. It was probably originally an ell of 45 German inches. In Roman measure it is 4 feet and equal to 48 inches. The two do not mesh.

At this point I should leave you to sort it out in your own time.
It would be as well to clear all the notes from me.
