Now that Ireland is rich, it is in the hands of the same sort of business obsessed yahoo's that run the rest of the EC.
I am glad that Ireland is not to remain a Leprauchaun themepark and the youth not longer have to migrate to find work.
The downside appears to be the destruction of the heritage that made it unique. Rapacious and ignorant developers are demolishing the place and the hills will be soon be buried or disfigured by the relentless march of the 'Ranchero-style bungalow building' craze
It is unfortunate that the poor are still with us and there is very little evidence of the trickle down of wealth to the urban disinherited despite the vaunted Celtic Tiger economy. Well, I suppose at least this time it'll be the Irish exploiting their own rather than the colonists.
I suggest that the protesters start touring the golf clubs, rather than waving placards, as that's were most business is settled. Donating a few untraceable overseas holidays to the planning officials is similarly a good ruse...I am reliably informed.
Yours, Catherine O'Hoolihan.
