This is in addition to my response which I cannot see, it may be because I forgot to put a 7 in the box.
I concede that the 5/2 MY length may have been a measure but I still doubt whether it's Roman value has any significance. I have found a use for it which is unrelated to it's Roman connection. It makes sense as a linear version of a unit of area. A circle of radius 2MY will have an area of 2 sq units. This is based on Pi equals 25/8 and has an error of 0.5%.
I believe that the true systems around which Megalithic was designed to interlock are French and German. The Megalithic Yard multiplied by 10/7 equals a French Aune of 44 pounces or 45 German zollen (inches). The megalithic pole of 6MY multiplied by 10/7 equals a French Pole. I believe that Megalithic is a modification of an older system which I suspect came with farming from Asia Minor. This system is the same as Sumerian. The counterpart of the Megalithic Pole is the English Pole of 10 Sumerian cubits or 15 Sumerian feet. The English Pole is 198 inches and the Megalithic Pole is 196 inches. The ratio of the English Pole to the French Pole is the square root of 2. The Sumerian counterpart of the Megalithic Yard is the Spanish Vara or Indian Akbar Yard of 33 inches. I believe that the natural structure of Megalithic is
Sumerian. This makes the Megalithic Yard a step of 5/2 feet.
Agree to disagree, it does not have to be Roman, all systems are linked together.
I reacted because I was put off by the author's lack of general knowledge of Greek and Roman measure and I am generally sick of authors who cannot get their facts right. However the geometry sounds interesting and I am intrigued by the reference to the Fibonacci series. I began by study from the geometry of the human body and so there seems to be parallels. I feel that this may well be a book which I should support to a large degree. Measure structure is based on geometry and it is all a part of the wider disclipine of Sacred Geometry. I believe that the Golden Ratio is part of an ancient body of knowledge which the Greeks learnt from the Egyptians.
Look at my example for the 5/2 MY measure. The diameter is 4MY. Divide this by Phi, (8/5) and you get the 5/2MY unit. The area is approximately equal to 2 sq units and the circumference 5 units. In Megalithic inches (which are nails to me) this works out as 20,000 sq inches. For a more exact value add 0.5% to give 20,100 inches. This is the mathematics of 25/8 which many systems are based on.
Megalithic is mostly 22/7.
