Take a careful look as you walk along Sprats Hatch lane from the Barley Mow pub- there are several more to your left hidden in the trees. Largish - 5 foot or so above ground level - Also there is another at the edge of the road by the bend towards Dogmersfield, and another fallen down in a small copse across the fields towards Pilcot farm, about 0.5 mile away. Very curious. They seem to have once been used as boundary stones - they allegedly follow the track of the old parish boundary though I've not verified this. But did they previously form some other structure or were they merely cleared from farmland? It's surely worth more careful research by someone.
