Hi, the Mound in the pic is called "the ant hill", as far as i know (i could be wrong) it was built about 150 yrs ago, and is a river defence.

In the photo, just to the left, there is a flood plain, every winter and spring it floods.

I think it was put there when croppers (the paper mill) altered the coarse of the river kent.

I live 100 ft from it, and i used to play on there when i was a kid, as a teenager i went over it with a metal detector and found a few coins with 1868 on them, so i would say they were from the workmen that built it.
