It seems that, although the land had never been flattened or cleared for the plough, developers are still claiming that the stone mounds were made by farmers clearing the land. Meanwhile, locals are chiming in, saying it has been common knowledge among area residents all along that these stone piles represent indigenous burials.
"A decision on whether the mounds are indeed burial mounds, thus disallowing the development as currently constituted, must be made by Friday Aug. 17."
