If you visit Wolverhampton by car, do it early on a bright summer weekend morning, like I did (I got there for 7am). Approach the centre from the north on Stafford Street, turning right at a small roundabout on to Wulfruna Street. There are a few diagonal slotted parking bays right next to St Peter's - parking free before 8.30 at time of writing. Do take in the historical interpretation plaques, and the imposing statue of the city's founder, Lady Wulfrun (latin version Wulfruna), as well as The Bargain Stone and Cross Shaft a short distance from each other.
