Trinny and Susannah face protestors by coldrum on Monday, 02 July 2007

Style gurus Trinny and Susannah came face to face with protestors up in arms at their plans to transform the Long Man of Wilmington into a feminine form this morning.

The television presenters - along with hoards of women - were at the historical site today filming the stunt for their new ITV series, Trinny and Susannah Undress the Nation.

As the duo arrived at the Sussex landmark they were met with protestors who say it is sacrilege to try and transform what they regard as a religious figure.

Among the protestors were Druids and members of the Woden's Folk.

A spokesperson for the Druids said on Monday morning, "The Long Man has stood on this hill for at least three hundred years, possibly more than a thousand.

"In all those generations no one has climbed over him to put breasts and a dress on him for a cheap TV programme."

An official ITV statement said, "ITV have sought and gained the relevant permission from the Sussex Archaeological Society for the purpose of filming around the public area of The Long Man of Wilmington."
