While I agree with his main thrust about the parlous state of the situation, I think he's going about this the wrong way.

The Govt plainly don't care much about the UNESCO status - in fact they have, I believe, no actual obligation to 'do' anything with a world heritage site (though I'd love to be corrected on this).

Ruth Kelly giving permission to English Heritage to go ahead with their new visitor centre at Countess roundabout, while retaining the planning condition that it can only proceed when the published plan for the A303 is in train, is smoke and mirrors and moves things no further forward. EH appealed to her to give them permission to go ahead *without* the A303 condition, and effectively she turned them down - though it's been well spun by EH in their press releases.

Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
