The new runway at Stansted Airport is intended to go in a north-east direction straight towards Molehill Green. It would appear that the two archaeological sites mentioned as being threatened are the site of Waltham Hall and the Grange moated site and fishpond. Neither are prehistoric of course. Much archaeology has been uncovered in the building of the present airport and there are rumours of much more with the enormous loss of green fields to car parks that are ongoing. Doubtless more wil be revealed as the new runway and ancillaries eradicate three square miles of good green land forever.
