All I can say is don't give up the fight. You may not have access to your son but at least when he's old enough to understand you will be able to tell him that at least you tried and you didn't give up on him! Keep records; photo's, letters anything that will show him in the future that you didn't stop caring about him just because you weren't around. KEEP FIGHTING!!
