Re: Stapleton Henge by Anonymous on Monday, 19 February 2007

This henge is one of four that are now believed to have existed in the valley. This is one of a pair possibly with another now being identified only a 150 metres away. Another has been seen through aerial photography as a cropmark next to Broad Heath common at SO3415 6381 and the final one being the so called motte at Combe at SO 3478 6348 which is not like any other motte in herefordshire and i should know as i have photographed them all. This of course is subject to excavation but the crop marks are absolute clones of the excavated henge and the eathwork at coombe has an outer bank though only visible in shortgrass in winter and the suggestion of a single north westerly entrance. Oh yes and plot the centres of each feature on the os map and run a ruler through them and you will see they are in a straight line. Also there are more to come ( i believe) on the Shobdon Pembridge side of Wapley Hill, i will keep you posted.

Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
