Gravel extraction, terrifying housing expansion, relaxation of planning laws, ongoing rape of green belts, new roads, new motorways, gross airport expansions...
So who really cares?
Not the heritage industry - they want ticket sales, tearooms and tourists
Not the government - they want more houses, businesses and airports
Not local authorities - they want more Council Tax
Not local people - they want better shops, hospitals and schools
Not motorists - they want better roads and motorways
Not archaeologists - they want to excavate and destroy (Seahenge!)
Not the public - they want prehistory neatly packaged in gift shops
Not the media - they want stories and TV specials
Who cares? We care.

Song of a Stone
I am a stone, born of the earth.
Flint men dug me, prised me, moved me,
Levered and rolled me, raised me, stood me.
Circled round with kin folk, stone folk.
Time blinked, stars turned, stones wept.
New men felled me, burned me, cracked me,
Left me fallen - now recumbent.
In the way now - move me - make way - motorway.
Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
