Re: by hailstones on Monday, 09 October 2006

I've been checking this out since finding an article in Nature magazine: "Humans dwelt in Ice-Age Tibet"(27th march 2002), as i have a special interest in Tibetan matters, being a child of the 60's.
This was the original story that tells of 19 hand and footprints"clearly visible in the stone surface (travertine)(volcanic rock).
A hot spring existed on the Tibetan Plateau where 26,000 years ago, 85 kilometres away from Lhasa, where a family( 6 individuals and two children) were present. A nearby fireplace with remains of a primitive stove!were discovered which seems to indicate settlement. This 4,000 metre plateau was previously thought to have been covered by a glacier 1 kilometre thick!
I have been looking for info on this since 2002 but i suppose as it's to do with China there is a lot of secrecy.
Infuriating as these discoveries are very exciting.
