I come from Sussex and was always aware of The Piltdown man as a piece of local or perhaps pseudo-history.Many years ago I remember discussing the case with an eminent Cultural Anthropologist,from the uk,but with a teaching post the Us and he informed me that he felt that many other proto-human remains were doubtful and as he put it "would not stand up for long in a court of law"He told me that me that some other Academics held similar suspicions to his, but a wall of silence surrounded the whole subject.So perhaps things have not changed a whole lot since The Piltdown Man was exposed? An interesting thought?
