I thought this programme was excellent, until they covered the Neolithic and completely ignored henges.
They then went on to say that it wasn't until the Bronze Age when stone circles developed that people moved away from worshipping in the claustrophobic atmosphere of the chambered tombs and moved out into the open air.
I've always considered Neolithic henges to be places where people gathered, met and traded in the open air way before the Bronze Age. It's a shame that such an important group of sites was ignored as, being unique to the British Isles, I would have thought they deserved more than anything to be included in the First Age of Britain.
