Andy - I just wondered why 'these days some may snort at the concept of Ley Hunting'. I have only just found this site and I am obviously out of touch/date with current concepts and approaches to Earth Mysteries. I am 61 and have been reading/studying EM and all it's many offshoots for the last 30+ years. I once subscribed to The Ley Hunter and eagerly devoured each issue. This magazine made us look much more closely at our surroundings, made us so much more aware of subleties in the landscape. If anyone should scoff at the Ley concept, and I quite understand their feelings after all these years believe me, I would refer them to my posting on the forum concerning Terr.Zodiacs.
I met an old blacksmith in a Pub in a little village called Anstey in Hertfordshire way back in the late 1970s. He was into his early 80s and we were talking about WWII - nothing to do with EMs or Leys. I mentioned some woods I had been in that day and he said "They said there used to be a secret path from there all the way into London"
That made the hairs go up on the back of my neck - why should he suddenly say that?
Was it a passed on memory of a Ley? I still think about that evening. It does not really matter what you actually believe - but getting in touch with the countryside, it's cycles and learning to love and cherish our environment, that is what is important surely?
Andy perhaps you can update an oldie, are the present young generation looking for a more scientific and archeological solution?
If so, they may be disappointed perhaps.
TLH reminded me so much of the Woolhope Club and it's field trips - with a certain Alfred Watkins taking many photographs.
