Re: Well found in dolmen in Antequera, Spain by Anonymous on Thursday, 25 May 2006

Oh, yes, and Antequera is the most important place in Andalucia, southern spain. It was even considered to be capital of andalucia. It has like 38 churches..which is very very many compared to the size of the town. The name antequera is believed to be given by the romans (meaning "the old")when they found it, which says alot, I think. It was definitely of great importance even in ancient times. It held its stand against the chatolic forces 82 years longer than the rest of the region. They even beat Al Hambra easier, if you've been there, you will understand how hard that would have been. They even sent 15 000 backupsoldiers to help taking Antequera, which did'nt help. 82 years is a long time, in a war/siege and tells something about the importance of the place.
There are 3 dolmens in the region. Menga is the ancient one, the two others are not as impressive, but tells us something about ancient times. The more modern it is, the smaller stones they use. The latest one is more like pathetic compared to the "menga", but still extremely old(pre-roman)

Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
