Forgot to mention, the Fort Ancient site shown in the illustration to this piece is particularly interesting because it is one of a few sites that were built partly in earthworks and partly in stoneworks, a 'missing link', so to speak, between the mound sites in most of the Mississippi Valley and the stonework sites to the east.
