pleased to have been of assistance on this one. The church guide
suggests this well may have been used by the celtic saint, as a place of baptism, especially as it is close to Upminster an old minster site and to Tilbury where once a chapel stood. The manor house stood nearby until bombed in WW2 and evidence is that most local manor houses are built on pre-existing past ancient foundations of one type or another, using the best sites around
