At Kilry school, the house over the bridge of the Kilry burn was always known as 'Standing Stane'. How do I know? Because I lived there for a short while. I also lived in the house opp. the school and it was known as 'Step Ha' (Step Hall). When I lived there the stane was in the field over the burn. It always seemed to me to be very big but I'm sure it isn't all that big. Standing Stane house, Step Ha and the next house up the road, called Broom Ha were all owned by the Middleton dairy. We also lived in Broom Ha.
