These oval tombes are witness of the arrival of a new people with new rituals in Languedoc region during the Chalcolithic and the Bronze Age. In addition to the original architecture and new funeral rites, a new metal made its appearance: bronze.
One of the oval tombs was decorated with an anthropomorphic engraved stele included in the facing stones. The age of these graves and ''statues-menhirs'' dates back to the Chalcolithic and the early and late Neolithic.
