TheCaptain visited on 26th Jun 2000 - their rating: Access: 3 Weekend to explore Collioure area. Drive coast road Port Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbere, into Spain, Portbou, Platja de Garbet to Figueras. Beautiful but slow. Signs to dolmens. Dali Museum brilliant. Back to Collioure through mountains, Argeles-sur-Mer. Look for the dolmens near Collioure, Fairly long walk up past the Chateau de Valmy, but only found one.

A large dolmen found signposted up a footpath on the mountainside to the south of the Chateau de Valmy. Its name translates from Catalan to the Arabs Cave.

The dolmen is reached by going through Argeles-Sur-Mer and following the signs for Chateau de Valmy. On reaching the Chateau go past on thr road which goes down hill to the right. When you reach the bottom of the small hill there is a track that goes off to the left with a sign saying dolmen. This track should be followed up the mountain side past the Chateau wall for around 30-40 minutes when you will come upon another sign pointing to the left which will lead you to the dolmen around 20 metres down a small path. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit.
