Jesus Well
Jesus Well submitted by theendlessbreeze : Grid Ref: SW937764 Location: Rock, near Padstow, Cornwall. This well is located on St Enodoc golf course at Rock. Follow the directions on the map until the footpath splits. Here you will find a faded white sign marked Jesus Well. Take this footpath until you get to another sign saying follow the white stones to the well. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Jesus Well
Jesus Well submitted by AngieLake : The proximity of one of the greens with its red flag, and, in the distance, the summit of Brae Hill with its barrows. (or tumuli?). St Enodoc Church is just to the right of that hill. Well worth a visit if you are checking out the Jesus Well. 13.5.14

Jesus Well
Jesus Well submitted by AngieLake : It was like the 'yellow brick road' on the way to Jesus Well, with the track carpeted with shiny buttercups. 13th May. (First glimpse of well and enclosure upper view, just right of centre, in front of bush.)

Jesus Well
Jesus Well submitted by AngieLake : We saw this helpful signpost while walking back to Rock from lovely St Enodoc church. It is opposite the junction of the main footpath with the one that leads off to Rock village. The very narrow lane through the bushes leads to open ground and you follow the white stones for a couple of hundred yards til you see the little well between two golf course greens.

Re: Jesus Well by Anonymous on Monday, 18 October 2021
I was brought up in Somerset & the West Country. After moving to London & returning to Glastonbury & Fowey in later years i can feel a difference in the atmosphere of the place. As if something monumental happen centuries ago there. Almost like a Bermuda Traingle it has an electronic fog sort of feeling to the place. People have described this as the West Country Syndrome. And it makes me wonder, as Led Zepplin would say.

Janet and Colin Bord in their book 'Sacred Waters' 1985 say that quote "Jesus Well at St Minver (Cornwall) cured a woman of erysipelas in 1867". "Orthodox medical treatment having had no effect on her long standing complaint, she began to bathe the diseased parts regularly in the well, also reciting the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus". "Her affliction disappeared and never returned".

However the authors' do not tell us if the well is associated with Jesus. But, we know from legend that Jesus travelled to Cornwall as a boy
with his uncle, St Joseph of Aramathea, on what was, then, a trading route. If legend is correct then it is plausable to say that the spring, now called Jesus Well, was visited by him early in the 1st century CE.

Condition: Yes, I have visited the Jesus Well that is located across the inlet of the sea from Padstow and is located adjacent to a golf course. It was very hard to locate in 2001 when I visited it as very few people in Padstow knew where it was at. Finally an older Church of England pastor was found by the lady that ran the B&B that I stayed at, came forth and gave me what he hoped were directions to it and I did find it. I even brought home a leaf fromthe vegetation growing in the water in it.
I am very glad that this site is now available on the Internet. There is so much Biblical history in Cornwall and Somerset that is just beginning to be recognized by the rest of Christianity I am a proud American that is proud of my English heritage, so proud that I am a member of the Glastonbury Pilgrimage Association
