Rock Art in Lombardia
At the Camanin pasture, above Madesimo, two paths intersect: one goes from north to south, the other from east to west. On those paths, a few hundred meters from one another, there are three stones, each presents some kind of engraving and... that's where all similarities end.
The first stone is small, rounded, the engraving on the top can only remind me... of a fish. I don't know if originally it looked like something else and someone with a lot of time on their hands turned it into a fish, or maybe I have a wild imagination. Or it is a fish (animal connected to Mother Earth, I've read). Oh well, it captures the sun beautifully no matter what it is, I bet it does a good job with a full moon as well.
The second stone is a flat slab with three classic cup marks (two linked); there are also two long channels, presumed as recent.
The third is a big boulder, at least 2 meters tall, flat sides, difficult to climb and yet, for some reason, near the northern edge of its top surface it has a very well defined cup mark. Why so high up? There is no easy way to the top, I took the picture of the cup mark sticking my elbows on top of the boulder, badly perched with one foot on a tiny ledge.
Any suggestion is very much appreciated!
