Ancient Village or Settlement in Gwynedd

Situated to the west of Tyrrau Mawr on a high narrow terrace within a marshland expanse the hut circle lies about 30m NE of a ruined dry stone post-medieval domestic dwelling. The terrace slopes to the south and to the west. There are levelled areas further up the slope that may have been enclosures or hut sites? The Gwynedd Archaeological Trust (GAT) has identified the lower dwelling as being post medieval but considers this site as unknown.

I visited on a wet and windy day. The hut has a 4m diameter and the outer drystone walls are raised to about 1m. The whole site is overgrown with heather and moss, the ground is treacherous underfoot and the terrain slopes steeply to the west so not very desres! However, there is a semblance of a path that follows a modern fence along the base of the mountain - now used by sheep 🐏
