Cist in Kyūshū
Komi commune is one of the oldest residential areas in Iriomote-jima island. Once there were 2 necropolis in the commune. The one near Cape Kisazaki (喜佐崎) was completely demolished by the renovation into a pasture, the other one on the inland plateau was also destroyed by the construction of youth centre (now, IriomoteTropical Tree Breeding Technical Garden (西表熱帯林育種技術園) and Iriomote Wildlife Conservation Centre (西表野生生物保護センター) stand on the site). There still remain the ruin of graves, old cists and modern graves with façade, in the surrounding jungle.
