Modern Stone Circle / Monolith in Hokkaidō

Otaru is a port town developed after Meiji restoration and later developed as an economic centre of Hakkaidō.

A herring fishery millionaire Aoyama family built this villa spending their welfare for construction, preserving treasury and making this wild dry landscape garden. It stands on a hill where the herring guard on the watch tower could find the white waves indicating the arrival of the herrings for spawning now it has become an illusional scenery now.

Open 9:00-16:30 (winter time -15:30), admission 1300 Japanese Yen (excluding tax, 2024 price), closed for 1 week after the New Years Day.
