Caldenhof Steingrab
Caldenhof Steingrab submitted by Martin_L : Neolithic chambered tomb near Ostercappeln. Due to the heavy damages it was not recognized as a megalithic tomb until 1976. Archaelogical examinations revealed, that the nowadays more or less randomly placed stones originally formed a 13m long chambered tomb. [Photo taken in 2012] (Vote or comment on this photo)
Damaged neolithic tomb near Ostercappeln-Hitzhausen. Several large stones remained, but are all torn out of place. Hence it took until 1976 the site was finally identified as a megalithic tomb. Further research conducted by Dr. B. Zehm in 2009 revealed more details and findings.

The chamber probably had a length of 13m and dates back to neolithic age 5500 B.P. It has been re-used in bronze age. Some remaining stones are thought to be capstones. According to Dr. Rothmann 18 megalithic stones are scattered around. (scroll down to the end of the page linked. Caldenhof is the last site described).
