Rock Art in southern India

Ghatta Madamangala rock art site is recently discovered by K.V.Subramanyam and is located near the southern Indian town of Kolar Gold Fields. The red ochre paintings are mainly drawn on granite hillocks open to the sky. Nearby there are some stones which appear to have been placed in an arrangement rather than being natural. The photograph opposite was supplied by the discoverer of this site - K.V.Subramanyam. An article in The Hindu Newspaper describes these and nearby finds: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Bangalore/article2632274.ece
