Chambered Tomb in Lower Saxony, Bremen

One of the two "Am Hohen Stein" neolithic chambered tombs. It's located on the small mound, possibly remain of the barrow.
The Chambered tomb measures 9.30 Meters by 2.10 Meters consisting of 15 uprights and 3 cap stones, which have collapsed into the chamber.
You can reach both tombs by following signs which start at the main road.

Garen Steingrab 'Der Hohe Stein' submitted by Martin_L : The damaged 6 capstone chamber viewed from the North-East. 15 (out of probably 16) orthostats are preserved, but partly out of place as a result of historic destruction attempts. 3 capstones are robbed, one is blown into pieces, two are complete, but collapsed into the chamber. Nevertheless a great site. July 2012 (Vote or comment on this photo)

Garen Steingrab 'Der Hohe Stein'
Garen Steingrab 'Der Hohe Stein' submitted by Martin_L : Overview from the West. Guess this happened when 3 out of the six capstones were robbed. Probably explosives were used. Two capstones are completely preserved, but fallen as can be seen in the picture. A fragment of the third is also visible in the foregroun... (Vote or comment on this photo)

Garen Steingrab 'Der Hohe Stein'
Garen Steingrab 'Der Hohe Stein' submitted by Martin_L : Winter Solstice Night 2009. One of the comparatively rare occasions to admire the site slightly snowbound. This definitely helped to console myself from overclouded sky: Neither sunrise nor sunset were visible from this part of the world. It was very cold and windy on top of the barrow. And then I became aware, that according to the legends solstice night is the first of 12 nights haunted by The W... (Vote or comment on this photo)
