Sakafune-ishi
Sakafune-ishi submitted by Aska : Site in Honshu, Japan. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The most enigmatic stone in the Asuka district, its purpose is completely unknown. The name "Wine('Sake')-Ship-Stone" itself contains a mystery. The hollows may run or strain liquids, i.e. water, wine or a drug, or some floating objects?

The shape of the hollows are reminiscent of a sacrifice table. Also the angles of the branches are similar to the angles of the sunsets between equinoxes and solstices. The continuous hollows on the edges are the remains of wedges cut into the bricks for the rampart of Takatori Castle 5 km away.
Now, the stream which start from this stone is supposed to have passed through Kamegata-Sekizōbutsu and Demizu-no-Sakafune-ishi. They might consist an amusement facility in the oldest capitol of Japan "Asuka."

Another stone with similar hollows was situated near Eisan-ji (栄山寺) temple in Gojō (五條) city, 10km away from Asuka. Sadly this stone was blasted into debris during the road construction before the World War 2nd.

Looks a lot like the Druid AWEN symbol.
