Coddu Vecchiu Tomba di Giganti submitted by AlexHunger : Sardinian Chambered tomb with arc shaped granite slab facade. The tomb is covered with cap stones. (Vote or comment on this photo)
13 Meter long cap stone covered megalithic tomb with 4.40 Meter tall two part stele and 16 Meters wide arc shaped stone setting with partial tumuli. 90 Meters altitude. in Sardinia

Additional information submitted by Drew Parsons October 2010:
The original burial chamber has been dated to between 1800 BC to 1600 BC and comprises a corridor type burial chamber which was covered by capstones and a mound of stones and earth. Later, Nuragic people added the beautiful stele and forecourt or exedra. The stones forming the exedra are dug deeply into the ground whilst the granite stele comprises two skillfully mortised slabs and has an opening at its base leading into the burial chamber. It has been carved with what is interpreted as a representation of a false door leading into the other world of the dead. The site is well sign posted from the nearby town of Arzachena. There is an information centre, car park and ticket office close to the site.

Coddu Vecchiu Tomba di Giganti submitted by SolarMegalith : The dolmenic-construction burial chamber - there is evidence that the dead were buried by removing one of the capstones and lowering the body inside the chamber. This explains very small dimensions of the opening in stele of the tomb (photo taken on September 2011).
