It's not in Burl's books on Stone Circles because he regards it as a 4-poster sub-type. It is in Burl's paper published as BAR British Series 195 where he calls it Machrie Burn. The rectangle formed is 11'2" x 8'9" and (Burl says) "the characteristic Arran interest in the cardinal points confirms this small setting as a true 4-poster".

Machrie Burn is the name by which this is commonly known and there seems no particular reason to follow RCAHMS in changing it.

The rarest of things - a stone circle NOT in Burl's book yet listed in the RCAHMS Database. They call it Machrie Farm so probably the name should be changed on Megalithic Portal.

The four stones are all about two feet high and are in roughly a rectangular formation making it presumably a 4 Poster.
