Runestone in Syddanmark
- Transliteration of the runes: tufi : bruti : risþi : stin : þansi : aft : lika : brutia : þiR : stafaR : munu : þurkuni : miuk : liki : lifa :
- Transcription of the runes: Tōfi Bryti rēsþi stēn þannsi æft līka brytia. ÞēR stafaR munu Þōrgunni miǫk længi lifa.
- Translation (Danish): Tue Bryde rejste denne sten efter brydens hustru. Disse stave vil leve meget længe for Thorgunn.
- Translation (English): Tue Bryde erected this stone after the bridegroom's wife. These staves will live a very long time for Thorgunn.
The Randbøl rune stone - also known as the large Rybjerg stone - occupies a special position in the series of Danish rune stones from the Viking Age. The rune stone is the only one in Denmark that was found on a burial mound with a presumably simultaneous burial.
The runic inscription is dated between 900-970 and runs in three vertical bands.
However, the circumstances of the find meant that the stone initially suffered major damage. The local stonemason did not notice the runes when they first discovered them in 1874, so he began to process the stone (hence the current setting in a base). The stone has the following measures: height 185 centimeters, width 100 cm centimeter, depth 30 cm centimeters.
