The hillfort is situated on a spur above the valley of the stream Erft in the east of the small town Euskirchen-Kreuzweingarten. The oval-shaped fortification measures about 350 x 180 meters and consists of a enclosing main wall and a crescent-shaped wall in front of its northeastern section, where the slope is less steep. The hillfort has been surveyed and partly excavated during four field seasons in the 1920s. As the excavations showed, the main wall was 5,50 meters wide and consisted of double-faced dry masonry, which was filled with earth and reinforced by a wooden structure. The crescent-shaped wall was 4,50 meters wide and also consisted of double-faced dry masonry.
Furthermore there was a v-shaped ditch in front of each wall. In the middle of the crescent-shaped wall there was a 2,50 meter wide entrance, which was flanked by two 0,50-meters-thick posts, with a gate chamber behind it. Inside the enclosure a big number of postholes and wall trenches have been investigated, but, however, it was not possible to reconstruct the dimensions of the buildings because of the narrowness of the trench, The small finds from the excavations can be dated to the late Latène and early Roman Period.
