Temple in Upper Egypt.
The Madamut temple its an important old kingdom temple (about 2572-2134 BCE). The temple had a sacred grove and was surrounded by a wall that was designed with unique tunnel system. Madamut was dedicated to the god Montu.
Senusret III of the 12th dynasty built a new temple here to honour the deity, and there is evidence of further work in the 13th Dynasty as well as the New Kingdom structures, with further construction in the Ptolemaic dynasty and Roman era. An avenue of sphinxes leads a couple of hundred meters to a quay were a canal from the Nile (or possibly the Nile itself) provided riverine access to the temple during festivals.
This medium Sized temple is North East of Luxor. 78 meter altitude. Temple is officially not open at this time and can officially not be visited yet.
