Dolmen in Aude
Location Source: T4T35.fr
"it was destroyed shortly after its construction before being reinvested by Beaker tradition populations. The first occupation dated Neolithic, corresponds to a large passage grave totally ruined, oriented southeast / northwest, about 10 m long and 2.10 m wide. The entrance, located southeast, above a corridor slightly narrows as it approaches the entrance of the monument, which is separated from the bedroom by a funeral hall. The second occupation is dated Chalcolithic from an archaeological feature furniture Campaniforme (ceramic decorations made by combing or footprints ... cords, Potter's comb, pearl copper, other soapstone, button hemispherical V ...). The dolmen is now largely ruined and refurbished part. The amounts of the original monument are torn and / or broken to the ground, and the burial chamber is drained. Orthostats dolmen then used to build a pavement on which would be tabled many dead. It is assumed that part was also used to build the two dry stone piles north of C3 and southwest of D6, the purpose of which was likely to bear an umbrella in perishable. The initial entry is condemned and moved to the center of the southern edge of the grave. A threshold composed by superposition of conglomerate slabs, is arranged. The time interval between the second occupation of the former is very brief. When the drain has been completed, some of the dead were in the first occupation during decomposition. This means that only a few months separate the two occupations of the site. The dolmen has radically transformed so that there were still rotting body in the room. For reasons not fully understood, the second memorial had to be abandoned: the bones of the dead were covered with pebbly screed"
