Ancient Temple in Kyūshū
3 primitive stone pagodas and 4 soldier Buddhas on a rectangular mound. The towers were reconstructed from 1 or 2 stories to 5, 2 Buddhas half-buried were dug out and mound was corrected to rectangle shape with kerb from oval in 1999.
"Hayato" is the name of native tribe of this area who revolted against Japanese in AD720 ("zuka(=tsuka)" means a mound) but the relation between the brave tribe and this Buddhist ruin which is now supposed to have been constructed in the 11th century is unclear.
A museum is attached.
