Marienborn Räuberhöhle
Marienborn Räuberhöhle submitted by AlexHunger : This cave has existed since the dawn of time and is called the "thieves cave" on account of a highway robber living in it during the middle ages who used to prey on the locals and travelers. There are traces of the stone having been worked on. You need to walk south east down a path into the forest for less than a kilometre from the Marienborn Stone. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Re: Marienborn Räuberhöhle by Anonymous on Sunday, 15 October 2006
My name is Siegrid Keschnat Bown. I live in Columbus, Ohio, USA. But - much of my childhood days were spent in Marienborn. My grandparents name was Karl und Lina Schoendube. I loved to roam the woods surrounding the village. They were my playground. I visited the area of the "Reauberhoele" often and remember the "gruselig Gefuehl" I felt there. I have wonderful memories of those days including many not so wonderful memories of the time after the division of Germany when my mother would take my sister and myself and cross the border illegally just so we could be "home" with our grandparents. I still like to go visit there whenever in Germeny. Thanks for your website and condjuring up my memories. Siegrid K. Bown
