Round Barrow(s) in Vestfold
This site consists of three medium sized round barrows. What makes the place interesting is the name Offerlunden which means "sacrifice grove" in English and it also has two huge and very old oak trees growing next to the barrows, one is dead and the other still green. The area today is at the edge of a small park in a villa neighbourhood.
Several large trees are often referred to as "spirit trees", where local people gave offerings of beer and milk, all up to modern times. The oak groves are also well known in Norse history and mythology. The trees must be very old and probably goes back to the time the barrows were constructed.
The barrows are overgrown with tall grass and can be difficult to make out tho a information poster have been placed next to them. One barrow is 15 metre in diameter and 1,5m in height and the other two are 10 and 12 diameter and 0,5 and 1 metre in height.
