The cova del Tabac is a large cave on the east face of Mont Roig, 300 meters above and overlooking the river Segre.

It contains several examples of neolithic cave paintings and has a 'monolith' at the cave entrance that appears to be a natural formation though may have been modelled to some degree. It is 20 meters high and 180 meters long. The name is usually explained as being due to the cave being used by smugglers to store their tobacco imports but the etymology can relate it to a celtiberian word tavacca, found at other sites in this region of northern catalonia and signifies a tower or fortified place. Considering the location and the single means of access, this rings true.
