Kings Wood tumulus
Kings Wood tumulus submitted by PurpleEmperor : Cairn on King's Wood tumulus (Vote or comment on this photo)
From Exploring Kent's Past: "A mound in Kings Wood, Challock forest, has been identified as a probable bowl barrow and has been protected as a scheduled ancient monument. It survives some 16m in diameter and 1.3m in height, and it remains in good condition. Its position and general appearance are the basis for its identification as a bowl barrow, but no finds are known from the site. There is no record of this mound on any of the Ordnance survey historic maps, but this is may possibly be due to a lack of recording within the woodland area at this time." http://extranet7.kent.gov.uk/ExploringKentsPast/SingleResult.aspx?uid=MKE4080
