Artificial Mound in Sarasota County, Florida. This Archaic shell mound was the highest point in the area when the Webb family built their home in the late 1860's and started a citrus farm. It was only recognized later that the high point was due in part to the shell middens made by ancient peoples.

The finds within these shell mounds date back to before 2000BC.

The area is now known as Historic Spanish Point. Of particular interest is the "Window on the Past," a small museum located within a shell mound.
